A boardgaming journey...

I cannot remember a time when I was not a board gamer. The earliest board game memory I have is of playing Waddington's Formula One. Long after everyone else had gone I would still be moving the little cars around the track by dice roll.piece from ticket to ride europe game The first gamer's game I purchased was Richtofen's War - I remember having to look up the word "scenario" in the dictionary. Mystic Wood, Risk and Talisman soon followed. The 80' to early 90's saw infrequent playings of Kremlin, Warrior Knights and Civilisation which kept me going.

In the mid- 1990's, I purchased Junta which was an immediate hit with my non-board gamer friends. We managed to play this once or twice a year. My board gaming ticked over until about 1997 when I was in London. I found a games shop which sold Hase und Igel (I had has this in my hands 10 years before and not bought it). I bought it and remember being astonished at the quality of the pieces. In addition, I bought Formula De and Mississippi Queen and that was me back into the hobby with a vengeance!

We now have a regular fortnightly gaming group. In the last couple of years I have attended Essen twice, been involved in the organisation of DiceCon 02 and 03 and played in Spielchamps in Manchester - although I was the weakest link - goodbye! I am board gaming in Washington in May. With Brettspiel, I am now able to play board games as often as I want online.

There has never been a better time to be involved in our hobby.
