Settlers of Catan 2006 Championships

Congratulations to:

Peter Donaldson the 2006 Scottish Champion (pictured above); and

Harcus Moodie the runner up.

Both won the right to represent Scotland at the 2006 World Settlers of Catan Championships in October 2006.

The 2006 tournament repeated the familar format:

  1. Four rounds of play;
  2. Each game had four players;
  3. Players were randomly allocated to boards;
  4. Each table in the same round used the same layout;
  5. The tournament points available were 10-8-6-4-2 with ties sharing equally;
  6. No individual scores were published until all the event finished;

Round by round

In round one the winners were were Peter Donaldson, Hendrik Little and Harcus Moodie.

In round two the winners were Peter Donaldson, Hendrik Little and Philippa Dall.

In round three the winners were Gavin Inglis, Mark Guz and Harcus Moodie.

In round four the winners were Peter Donaldson, Tanya Fox and Natasha Hosie.

The top six were:

1. Peter Donaldson - 34 points
2. Harcus Moodie - 31 points
=3. Hendrik Little - 28 points
=3. Philippa Dall - 28 points
=5. Mark Guz - 21 points
=5. Gavin Inglis - 21 points

This year we again asked for suggestions for good gamesmanship. The special award for this went to Tanya Fox, nominated anonymously for "doing the right thing". Well done, Tanya.

Peter had an outstanding tournament. But there must be a special mention for Hendrik who consistently scores near the top but just fails to hit the first couple of places. Maybe next year Hendrik?

A thank you from me to the players for making this a great tournament to run. You played in the best of spirits and deserve a pat on the back. I hope you had a good time.
