Galloping Pigs 2004 UK Championship
This is a perfect convention game. fast, easy, fun and unpredictable. And age and experience are no use to you. You need luck to top off your skill and that always seems to desert you when you come up against somebody half your age. Just ask Steven Gladstone....All joking apart - well, nearly all - this tournament attracted more than 20 players who battled through the single elimination rounds to a cracking final.
The final four, in order, were:
1. David Cromie. The Official 2004 Galloping Pigs UK Champion. Well done David.
2. Andrew Wilson. Our 2002 Champion was a whisker - or should that be a hog's breath? - away from repeating his performance. He lost by a point. Hard luck Andrew.
3. Gery McLaughlin. Things were going oh so well for Gery until the last round.
4. Steven Gladstone. Steven raced through the heats crushing all before him. But his run fizzed out in the final. Still, like the others, getting to the final in this exalted company was a damn good performance.
There was also a special presentation to the youngest GP participant: Eric Evans. Well done, Eric.
Thanks to the GM efforts of Gordon Lamont it all went smoothly.
